#MCM: Darey Art-Alade

This Monday we are super crushing on Darey Art Alade and his amazing team for pulling of the 3rd edition of-Love Like a Movie- featuring American super star Ciara!dare 2Love Like a Movie (LLAM) delivered as promised! Vibrant, electric and ovation worthy dance and musical performances combined with  symphonic lights and off course the amazing Ciara herself- LLAM definitely created a standard for shows to follow.

The show itself which is in its 3rd series following previous editions with Kim Kardashian and Kelly Rowland- cements Darey’s position not only as a one of Nigeria’s best talents but also a credible event producer. We cant wait for LLAM4!

But you know here on IBG, we aren’t just about the lights and cameras, we like to go a little bit deeper and behind the pump and pageantry. I remembered an interview I did with Darey in 2011, for Elan Magazine, which really sheds some light into the man that is Darey, here are a few excerpts…

On himself

I am a basic easy going guy. We are all exceptional people when we rise to the occasion. I think I may be in my element when I am making music or performing on stage but apart from that I am just a regular guy who cares about his family, who is a family man who works and makes ends meet.

On growing up with music and having a famous father

It was a thing of joy being surrounded by music. Not just being famous for the sake of being famous but for making people happy, making people laugh and for taking music to the people, I think it was a privilege.

On musical icons who inspired him

My parents met in a choir. They both had musical leanings. A lot of people within the family, both nuclear and extended were into music. Many of which I received tutelage from including Richard Bucnhor, Prof Laz Ekweme the late Bode Osoyin. My fathers contemporaries Fela, Sir Bobby Benson, Victor Uwaifo, Christy Essien,  Osita Osadebe, Rex Lawson and (many others…)

Most significant achievement

Being alive and doing what I wanted to do from a young age which has simply been to share my music with people. It could be one person, two people, millions to whoever is following, just that joy of being able to do that and being blessed with great family, great people, friends and all that, there’s nothing else that I have ever wanted.

It’s not accolades or the awards, it’s really not flying all around the world or anything like that. It’s just that simple gift of being able to share that with everyone else. It’s a great feeling when I perform my songs and people smile or they sing along. That’s just it.

Congratulations to Darey for an outstanding show, we wish him and his team continuous success!!!
