Ever Tried a Mirror Fast?

Ever Tried a Mirror Fast?

So I’ve heard of fasting from food, fizzy drinks, junk food etc. I’ve even heard of fasting from movies and shopping. I’ve never heard of a mirror fast…well that was until last week. I was so intrigued by the notion, I did some research and came across this video.

Basically, a mirror fast means abstaining from looking at yourself in the mirror/any reflective surface. It might sound easy but when you think about it its pretty hard! Like with all types of fasting the point is to concentrate less on the physical and tune in more to the spiritual or inner self. I’ve never tried it, but majority of the people who have swear that it boosts confidence!

I found this Buzz Feed video SUPER revealing because it showed an almost SHARP change in the personalities of the subjects. They either seemed really confident, somber or deeply reflective after.

What do you think? Would you try a mirror fast? and why?

I was actually just thinking about this a couple of days ago. However I didnt call it a mirror fast lol. Particulary because am on a journey to loosing some weight before my graduation ceremony. I would definitely consider doing this, the reason being that looking in the mirror everyday hampers my progress because I look to the mirror for any slight changes in body, even though I know that this will take time. The effect is a dissatisfaction with my body currently, a need for quick change and demotivation in working out. In addition, It’s almost as if my sense of what would make me happier comes from what I see in the mirror, facially and body wise. What a lady in the video said about being your worst critic resonated with me alot because I sometimes think to myself you look overweight in this dress and everyone is going to notice it and look at you funny. Which may actually not be the case. Definately looking forward to trying it, I have a lot of mirrors to cover. Thanks for the post Glory
