I LOVE me some Iyanla…the woman speaks truth for days. This video reminds me of some of the recent relationship vlogs we’ve shared. I guess it has to do with our culture but there is a significant narrative in Nigeria, and I dare say most of Africa, that makes single women feel incomplete. When that is most certainly not the case.

We base our potential happiness on the possibility of marriage and try our hardest to fit into some form of archetypal marriageable mold, hoping wishing and praying for a male saviour to arrive. Iyanla explains the problem with thinking this way and instead emphasizes self acceptance and taking responsibility for your own happiness.
