Would You Let Your Man Make You Up?

If the man in your life could make you up…what sort of make up would he choose (and more importantly would you trust him to..LOL)?

I just love buzz feed and their social experiments. Amidst the hilarity of their videos, there is usually a subtle narrative that reflects either our prejudices or flaws in societal thinking.  A bit like the mirror fast video we posted last week (watch it here), this video takes away the perceived power of make up from the woman and places it squarely in her boyfriends hands! A little scary, right?

The experiment yielded mixed results across the couples, but I guess the most striking thing for me was how the guys still tried to change the way the their partners looked…either lighter, or darker and even to the extent of looking like his family members!

A colleague of mine once told me he wasn’t keen on his wife wearing make up and preferred the natural glow, a lot of dudes always harp on about girls carrying their own hair as opposed to weaves or braids. But what do you think? How much should your partners likes or dislikes influence your sense of style…hair, make up or clothing? Should we cater to their tastes or stick with ours…or is there something to be said for balance? Especially when it seems that their preferences are far from our tastes? Would you change the way you looked for your partner?
