#WCW: Stephanie Obi and Omilola Oshikoya

It’s already been 4 days since we concluded the #My2016GoalsWorkshop but the lessons learnt from organising and listening to the speakers will probably last a lifetime. I and everyone who attended the workshop learnt so much from both Stephanie and Omilola-so it shouldn’t come as any surprise that I am crushing on both these very knowledgeable and proficient speakers.

The CD’s from the workshop will soon be available for sale- but before then here are some life changing lessons I learnt from these women and their individual sessions

  1. Stephanie Obi- How to Create your Vision Board

‘The purpose of creating your vision board is to get clear on what you want, so you can take action’

It wasn’t just about creating a vision board- Stephanie took us through the vital steps for believing in your dreams, even when self doubt shows up. Here are a few excerpts from her talk

‘People who succeed are people who say I can’

‘There is no such thing as unrealistic goals-everything is possible if you believe’

‘The bible says ‘as far as your eyes can see- as long as you can see it, it is possible.’

‘Anytime you feel negativity towards someone, check it might be because you want something they have’

‘You don’t get what you want-you get what you believe’

‘Everyday spend 5 minutes thinking about what it would feel like to achieve what you have on your vision board’

  1. Omilola Oshikoya- How to Finance Your Vision

Now that we have our goals all figured out-we have the faith and the right mindset to help us achieve them- how do we get our dreams financed? Omilola’s answer was one of my favourite in the workshop. Inner resourcefulness. To illustrate her point Omilola used the growth process of a seed to a seedling.

When the seed is in the ground (brown part), it has no direct contact with sunlight, a vital part of its feeding. But inside the seed is the embyro (seedling) and endosperm, which provides the seed with the vital nourishment to germinate. The endosperm continues to feed the seed until it can grow out of the soil to become a seedling and make contact with the sun.

In the same way we are like a seed, carrying  an embryo- our dreams and needing finance (sunlight) to help our dreams come to life. But also in us, is our inner resource- endosperm, which we can use to grow our dreams until it reaches the place of outside financing.

Honestly, I don’t know if I did this analogy enough justice, but to me it was just mind blowing. It means we already have what we need to take our dreams to the next level-all we have to do is look inwards, first! That is such an exciting notion. The realisation of my dreams, starts and depends on me first and no one else.

What are you waiting for? Ask yourself today….What is my vision, what can I birth with what I have, the money will come after!
