I love reading #letterstomyyoungerself. It contains so much wisdom useful for every day life. But most importantly it shows that at the core, humans are the same. We are scared, broken and lacking in self confidence. Yet despite the odds, we are somehow able to muddle through and look back with a sense of satisfaction. Watching Tyler Perry read his letter to his younger self is a reminder to us that regardless of our past, upbringing, and fears, life does get better. Even when it seems like everything and nothing makes sense, even when life murky waters makes it impossible to see the thin silver lining, there is always better on the horizon.
His letter reminds me that there is a purpose to the pain. The very fabric of who we are is being shaped through our most terrible of circumstances. It reminds me to trust in the power that is bigger than me and in the still small voice in my heart that keeps urging me on, even when I have no reason to continue. It reminds me that my greatest fears in life, are just that, fears. They are not my reality and may never be.
