#Spirit: God Works While We Wait

They call us the microwave generation. We like things fast and quick. Meteoric rise in your career, extra fat pay check after a few years from graduation, married with kids before 35, the list is endless. We expect nothing but quick and fast results from all the seeds in our life and when this doesn’t happen- we say- why me!

I’m guilty of the above and more. But every now and again, I remember that the race is not to the swift and even more importantly, that God makes all things beautiful in His time.

A friend of mine sent me this devotional over the weekend and I think it provides an opportunity to reflect the importance on waiting on God…..because as we all should know, delay is not denial

It is good to wait quietly for the salvation of the LORD. — Lamentations 3:26

If we are honest, we all hate to wait. We’d rather be in control, in the driver’s seat, making moves, making things happen, getting results. And yet, God values waiting so much that it’s one of the main tools He uses in our lives to get to our hearts and change us from the inside out. What are you waiting for today? For answers, for a mate, for a job, for lab rest results, for a raise, for a baby, for the New Year which will hopefully be easier than this year? As you wait, remember that God Almighty is working on your behalf!

In fact, most often we say something like, “I can’t believe this is taking so long; it’s costing me time I don’t have!” That’s because most of us consider waiting to be wasting. But it’s not so with our God.

God works while we wait.

Even when you can’t see what He is doing, God is always orchestrating the events of Heaven and earth to accomplish His purposes for your life.

Trust in His unfailing love — love that moved Him to send a Savior from heaven to restore and rescue you. God’s plans for your life will not be thwarted. Wait patiently, knowing that waiting is never wasted when you are waiting on God

Prayer

Father, I am here waiting for You. My heart and hands are open to Your purposes and plans for my life. Give me the patience I so desperately need and lead me in my waiting. Though my feelings may not be there just yet, I believe You are moving on my behalf right this minute, protecting, defending, preparing, providing. Give me grace to keep trusting in You in the face of the gale force winds of doubt that are blowing all around me. Anchor my heart in You. Amen
