We saw this post on one of our FAV blogs, Single in Gidi and just had to share!
There is plenty drama being single in Lagos (or any where else for that matter). Asides from the continual pressure (and prayer) from friends, family, wellwishers and people you met 5 minutes ago to get married there are also various ‘stigma’ issues attached to singledom. One of which is the preconceived notion of women who live alone.
One woman argues that single women must ‘endure’ under their parents roof until they marry. Another man put a caveat, ‘unless she is rooted in Christ’. Another says living alone allows ‘trail before marriage’. But what do you think? Are there economic or other reasons why single women may choose to live with their parents until marriage, or is this really much ado about nothing? Pay your rent, if you can and live ya life! LOL…..
