Today we bring you Part Two of ‘How to become a Woman of Power’ which is part of our ongoing #powerseries. If you missed part 1 you can find it here.
How to become a powerful woman: Be ambitious…Be Resilient
The most interesting thing about this video is that the women here do not have an ‘I have arrived therefore you must all bow at my feet’ attitude. Rather, they readily admit private doubts about the level of their success. They aren’t risk averse either. Instead they see taking risks as an opportunity to learn and develop and are obsessed with getting things done. It seems ambition here is an internal quality and has little to do with exterior motives. It isn’t about climbing the corporate ladder rather it’s about focus, zeal and resilience even in the face of the most challenging of circumstances. While others may shy away from criticism and rejection, women of power learn and grow from these experiences.
Be Ambitious
Be Resilient
Becoming a powerful woman is therefore a process. It isn’t about titles and accolades. It is about the strength of your character and your values. Knowing who you are, what you want to accomplish and finding a way to achieve these things regardless of seeming obstacles and/or setbacks. That is what makes us powerful. Our ability to lead, practice resilience and surmount obstacles while staying true to who we are. Off course, this requires hard work and taking responsibility for your actions and others even when the outcomes aren’t favourable. It is seeing yourself not as anyone’s superior, but understanding the potential of your team and matching these potentials to the task ahead. It is being obsessed about getting things done, right.
If these things are true, then power is a skill available to all. It is accessible to anyone willing to train and develop themselves by its principles. Using the traits described above, do you consider yourself a woman of power? How many women of power do you know? Send us an email at glory@inspiredbyglory.com and we might just feature you on the next edition of the #powerseries.
