We’ve heard of money doublers but this is crazy! She has never taken a business class, failed her law school exams, twice, and got laughed at! Yet she is amongst the world’s youngest billionaires. Sara Blakely is the CEO of Spanx, the ‘invisible’ under garment worn by women all over the world. What many people don’t know is how by 41, Sara had turned $5000 into 1billion dollars.
Sara’s journey, as with most entrepreneurs, wasn’t an easy one. After failing law school exams (twice) settled for a job selling fax machines. That was until she had her idea to create Spanx. Today, she has sold 10million pairs without spending a dime on advertising. How?
As with many entrepreneurs featured on inspiredbyglory.com, Sara embraces failure and doesn’t take no for an answer. She believes that doing things differently is what breaks the mould and creates new companies. Her advice is to entrepreneurs is to speak up, embrace what we don’t know and differentiate yourselves so the customer sees why they need your product. Be authentic and remain who you are but always treat people fairly and trust your gut. But most importantly, NEVER solicit feedback on your product or business just for the purpose of validation.
