I woke up this morning with a lot on my mind. Things I haven’t done, things I don’t have and things I want. I doubt if thats any different to a vast majority of people reading this. We all have our want list. Our brain is predisposed to think about things we don’t have not things we have. The result is a life of always wishing for the next big thing, without enjoying the present.
Tears rolled down my eyes as I watched today’s #inspiremonday video. The video gives us a glimpse into Nick Vujicic, a man born without arms and legs. Despite his obvious handicap, Nick’s outlook on life is liberating. He shows that being happy and living is a choice. In other words we can choose to be ‘angry about what we don’t have or happy about what we have’. we can make an active decision to make the best out of the hand life deals us, instead of complaining about out limitations. From the video we see that what could easily have been a negative, has somehow become Nick’s greatest strength. His ability to live regardless.
So this week, I am going to concentrate on the things I have not the things I don’t. I will complain less about what I don’t have and enjoy what I have because if Nick’s story is anything to go by it is from celebrating what I already have that true happiness comes.
