A few months ago, Julius Agwu talked openly about his health and life saving surgery. However on Sunday, I saw a different dimension to his story as I read his interview with the TPH Review. Here are some excerpts from the interview
About discovering his diagnosis
It was heartbreaking. …I still have two of them as I speak, but they are benign. the third was the size of a golf ball. my medications suppress them but they have adverse reactions on my skin.
On comments about his appearance
The comments on social media and the blogs pushed me to a deep sadness and to contemplating suicide even. I started telling my wife, it was the end. Society drags you to certain things. That was something I learnt from this ordeal. I finally had to tell myself and everyone that ‘you are not my creator’. People feel celebrities are not human begins; we have blood too. I was also shocked that many people didn’t reach out during my surgery.
On second Chances
Getting a second chance is a rare privilege…..So i am living my life anew with purpose and devotion to God. I am starting Christian Entertainment Outreach (CEO) with and for my colleagues in the industry.
Last words
what if you died today and God probed you? …Its time to think deeply about your life ad . if we think we would realize that its mostly peoples opinions of us that hold us back.
We continue to wish Julius a permanent recovery and salute him for his honesty and perseverance
