Today is our private book reading event with the trailblazer Group CEO of United Capital PLC Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sanni. In preparation for our event, I finished reading her book, ‘Yes, You Too Can’, last night and I couldn’t help but crush on this woman whose identity, purpose and drive is deeply rooted in spirituality.
I cant wait to delve deeper into this book later today and off course, we’ll be posting summaries of our questions and her answers after the event. But before then, lets take a look at the lawyer, financial guru, wife, mother, pastor and now author Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sanni.
Her Career:
Toyin Sanni is the Group CEO at United Capital, Plc, a leading African Investment Bank. Prior to her appointment as the Group CEO, Toyin Sanni was CEO, United Capital Trustees Limited – a subsidiary of United Capital Capital Plc and a market leader in the Trustees business. A Lawyer, Chartered Secretary and Stockbroker with over twenty-five years’ experience in Investor Services, Law and Finance, Toyin holds a Masters Degree, LLM (Hons), from the University of Lagos as well as the Professional qualifications of the I.C.S.A. UK, and the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (C.I.S.) Nigeria. She was a Council Member of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators Nigeria, a Fellow and Vice President of the Association of Pension Funds of Nigeria (APFN), an Associate of the Institute of Directors Nigeria and President of the Association of Corporate Trustees Nigeria. Toyin has served on various committees and boards including the National Bond Steering Committee, the West African Capital Markets Integration Technical Committee and as Chairperson of the Custody Sub-Committee of the Capital Market.
Her Awards
In 2014, Mrs. Sanni was named one of the Top 25 CEO’s by the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) and also became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers. This year she received the Women4Africa International Recognition Award as well as the Heirs Person of the Year Award.
Her Book:
Mrs. Sanni is the Pastor-in-Charge at Life Gate Area of RCCG, and its no wonder her book is soaked full of spiritual exploits. A key take away from her book, for me, was the need to be intentional about life. In various chapters, Toyin documents the heaviness of life challenges she endured, but the most interesting aspect was what she did to overcome. Through out the book are examples of how prayer and action work side by side to produce amazing results. It is a book the documents the sacrifices required to achieve success and the merits of hard work dedication and drive.
